When designing specific screens, high-fidelity mockups with real data paint the clearest picture and help during engineering. In the initial phase, sketching serves two main purposes: it helps to communicate ideas efficiently to other people for further discussion and it is the first step in developing specific screens and interactions without already committing to them. One can discover specific ideas developing through each stage up to the final product. To describe my process, I show select artifacts of several stages of the development. It is built and powered by Flipboard, and in this collaboration with Samsung I lead the design, prototyped interactions, and managed the production within a 3 months timeframe.įlipboard Briefing during the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 announcement: Now, considering you've read this far and there was really nothing to it, here's a bonus tip: to save time swiping between all your home screens, simply tap the little dot at the bottom of the screen (just above the dock icons) that represents the page you want to go to.Flipboard Briefing is the news app integrated into the OS for all Samsung Galaxy Note 4 devices world-wide. Removing the Flipboard screen on the Galaxy Note 4 only takes one press and two taps. Uncheck it and you'll lose the Flipboard Briefing screen and have endless scrolling enabled by default. Press this and voila! You'll see the check box for Flipboard Briefing. On the bottom you'll see an icon for ''Home screen settings'' on the right. From any other home screen, simply find a blank space and long press to bring up your home screen management page. The Galaxy Note 4's Flipboard Briefing screen may not be for everyone.
